It's been a while since I watched pokemon, but Doesn't Bock (who is black) leave his 18+ brother and sisters behind to follow Ash and Misty? Brock was the oldest out of all his sibling and he cooked/cleaned/acted like a "father" towards his siblings because their dad was out of the picture.
