Not sure what you mean here. The article also says it's a different story, about a Mesopotamian god.

Right, but then it says "What it contains are specifications for the legendary Ark which was said to have saved two of each animal - and a handful of humans - from a catastrophic flood." - Which is it?

Your thread title is accurate, but the article is saying that it is actually about Noah's ark.

I think what it is saying is that the contents of the Noah's myth predate it, and can be found in a similar, earlier Mesopotamian myth- and it gives you a few of those shared elements.

While I wouldn't be surprised, it does seem like they are making a leap. Religious people can refute this easily by saying it is irrelevant to Noah's ark and simply refers to something different.

Yeah, but I think they would be reaching by doing that. An ark that collects all the animals, two by two, ordered by a God? Seems a bit too similar to dismiss as coincidence. The other thing is that there's already a context of influence that has been established by archaeologists and historians in other ways. We already know that the Hebrews were part of a longer line of Semitic peoples who populated the region, including all the other Mesopotamians, and that there are many other similarities between their mythologies.

There was only one flood in history and this was definately it.

Nope.

Civilizations grow near water for obvious reasons.

if theres a crazy ass flood because, well no doppler radar or nasa satellites at the time :duck:, then you'll get knocked over by freakish weather and when you see katrina like shyt hitting your weak ass construction and infrastructure from 2000+ years ago, you'd think "god" hated you too.

This could happen to any society built near water during ancient times.

There's evidence to support there being a world wide flood.
yeah...in EVERY ancient society that lived near water that gets flooded without modern dams or weather prediction or water management...

...which is all of them.

Plus, the mechanics of a "world wide flood" if you seriously mean that, doesn't make any sense.
