Congo is a large country, there is only conflict in a small part of the country....mainly the small Eastern Kivu Provinces.
If you go to Kinshasa (the capital), its been stable. Congolese on this board have stated this. The media makes it seem like the war is country wide and it's not.
Is it fair to say that America is at war, because Chicago is violence ridden? Of course not. The rest of the country is pretty much insulated from "Chiraq"...it's similar to the DR Congo (a nation of 71 million people) and Kivu provinces.

My dad is there right now and people do what they always do. Things have gotten more conservative outwardly but Somalis ALWAYS have been conservative, xenophobic, and attackers of authority.

Son there has been many conflicts in the Congo that have left over 6 million dead in the last 20 years. This wasn't in one location of the country. I agree the majority of it was in the Kivu province but there was a media blackout about the reason there was a conflict.
Why would people be talking about or take interest is a conflict that has ended?
My point is that nobody is talking about the 6 million dead in 20 years because for the most part the hostilities have ended.
DRC for the most part is stable and a majority of citizens are doing their day to day

China has stated several times that they frankly don't give a fukk about geopolitical military tactics, hence not developing their military capabilities in the same rate as other nations. People are quick to jump on African countries that have Arab influence during uprising or unrest but are quiet during the biggest conflicts and wars of Africa that have nothing to do with Arabs.
