Do you know how much work Apple has them doing for the new iPhone launch?!Why does everyone who works for Apple looks and sounds like they can die at any moment.
No sense in upgrading a phone every year anymore especially when your phone is still getting the latest firmware updates. The year to year hardware updates are small now.
You can easily get 2-4 years out of most any hardware now and maybe even longer than that if you don’t mind a degraded battery and slightly less smooth software experience.
