You're onto something. The GOP elevated AOC, partially because of her politics (wavering between lite de-commodification, I won't call it socialism, and liberalism) and her racial ancestry. She made a good foil, along with the rest of the media invented "squad" to spur reactionaries in America to perceive the Democrats are 'radicals'.

The Democrats are as radical as Manchin. Slow, oligarchic, reactionary, dithering, focused on pleasing corporate donors rather than the suffering masses.
