I've been thinking the same thing..maybe it's Vince's stubbornness that if it's not HIS idea then it's NOBODIES idea. I don't know..that's just me..but I agree with this whole post. Which then makes me wonder that if WCW wasn't around back then, would Vince pushed people like The Rock or Austin?...

They put Austin in a generic, doo doo butter ass cookie cutter role with The Ringmaster that's very similar to these milquetoast watered down vanilla roles they have people floundering in now. The difference is, Michael P.S. Hayes told Austin "hey Jake just cut a religious based promo on you, use that to respond" and Austin had the freedom to say what he WANTED to in response. Now he could've flopped miserably, but he was ALLOWED the rope to ad lib. He was allowed to ad lib and then when he got over without their say so...they saw it...and get this, they PUSHED him. They're not giving dudes that these days outside of a precious few and it's fukking depressing.

They even have the Diva's doing it, and having real matches. They're having people do promos in the performance center.
