I've never heard of this and one of my friends is in financial trouble between jobs.

Link? I'm in Kentucky if that matters

its a federal program but how its implemented is different in each area, here you can do a application over the phone and state its an emergency and they will send u the ebt card within 7 days. the ebt will be good for 3-4 months........during that time they will try to schedule u for an actual appointment but if u just want it for the 3-4 months u dont go.

heres a link to the website for ur area The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

if u plan on calling there asking how it works be clever with ur wording.......most of the employees wont tell u how to exploit the system willingly.

Won't be exploiting the system in this case, but thanks. I forwarded the info. Didn't even know it was called SNAP

the internet
Also...its possible to find organic cheap meat from sources outside of large grocery stores like Wholefoods.

Around the corner from me is a place run by some muslims. They sell poultry that they kill when you order. No lie, its like stepping in a time machine. They have chickens, turkeys etc... in the back, and when you order them they weigh them alive. Then they take em in the back kill em, and then cut them up for you. 100% Organic and its something like $1.69lb.

I remember in Philly there were a number of Amish grocery stores that had good food pretty cheap too.

Organic isn't as important to me as buying locally. I always buy my produce at the farmer's market or a Co-op grocery store(Tones of them in SF). Meat, I try to always buy locally from a butcher. Fish I buy at the farmer's market... Buying local is always fresher and believe it or not, less expensive... Go to "Localdirt.com" for listings of sellers who provide locally grown food...

I only eat Chicken and turkey(Free range or Kosher) and Fish meat..

If you eat shyt like pork and beef... As long as the none of the ingredients in them have the word "Nitrate" in them, than pork and beef is fine... However, usually only products labeled "organic" do this...

I don't really fukk with pork or beef anyways unless I am in a nice restaurant...

That sounds absolutely amazing... I think that is what this country needs... The perfect mix of commercialization AND smaller scale to provide some sort of balance... it is getting harder and harder to do that nowadays though.... I am always studying up on farmer's rights... Local farmers get shytted on in our country...

There's no point of eating healthy if you're not going to rid your diet of dairy, starchy foods and meat.

"There is no point to working a job if you aren't making a 200k a year salary...."

See how weird that sounds. Not really true.... Dairy and Starch I agree with because I drink almond milk and dont eat white potatoes(Sweet potatoes and yams are okay to me though)... But there is nothing wrong with free range chicken/turkey and locally caught fish... or even local grass fed cows...

The problems with Meat consumption come from over indulgences and eating meats that have been treated with sodium nitrates, etc...

But Meat is extremely important to your diet. I don't want to have to take a whole bunch of supplements to get what I can get out of meat. That would suck if I had to take Zinc, Iron, Magnesium, etc. pills or go out of my way to find ways to include those in my diet when I can eat a chicken breast the size of my fist and get all of it...

Norfeast groovin…
I'm about 80% organic nowadays but I think it's good to keep a tolerance for the bullshyt so you can be adaptable in different environments and situations. I won't lie tho, if I eat some Popeyes chicken I'll feel all that grease n shyt going slowly down my stomach, shyt feels gross.

Organic veggies, fruits, meats, spices, that's pretty much the way to go in 2013. I can't ride the monsanto wave. :scusthov:
