My lease is up in october im trying to move out sooner. My place is owned by an older Chinese guy so it’s not some big management company. And he’ll make more money if I move out. Anyone ever finesse this situation?

The only way he will possibly let you out of a lease is your history as a tenant
Probably will have to pay a couple of months before you leave
Private landlords you are pretty much on how they feel about you and your circumstance
And even if you get out the lease
They may hit you with them fees later on
Saying damage to the property or needing to clean or other various “incidents” to the property you know nothing about
Take pictures from now until you leave
Document everything and hope buddy likes you enough to do it
Also be sure if you indeed break this lease
Buddy doesn’t report to a credit bureau
You really are at the whim of buddy
It could go smoothly or real bad
Real quick

So you have 3 months left? How long have you been living there? Do you know anyone willing to move into your apt? Do you have a good relationship with your landlord? Your best bet would be to try and have a sit down with him and discuss some of your options.

Yes. It was a company but it was 1 dude's own company.

I was moving for a job so I just talked to him straight up and asked what my options were. I had been there 3 years and was a great tenant, so he was pretty cool with me. I basically just had to pay an extra months rent and was able to get out when I wanted. I had a top floor apartment in a popular neighborhood so he knew he'd fill that vacancy easily. He increased the rent a lot after I moved out so he was probably happy I got out of there in the end.

So just go talk to him.

I have but it was just me simply jetting out one day and never returning.

I wouldn't recommend it per se, but in my case I moved out of state. I don't guess that makes it any better.

This

Basically, if you're a good tenant with a good track record you just talk and ask what your options are.

Tell him why.. if its for a job, family illness, military service, etc., most times they will work with you on something
