I think the straw that broke the camels back for me is fukking Obama coming out about this shyt. It's like the new thing to do, complain about the safety of the NFL.

Yet we got sports like Boxing, UFC and Nascar going on and no one says a fukking word. People die in racing events once every 2-3 years it seems, but no one seems to be rallying around that cause. Then look at Ali & Holyfield, fukking walking mush brain zombies.

But Obama, seriously, shut the fukk up. You don't say shyt about police brutality. People out there everyday getting their fukking heads knocked in by cops, you're dropping drone bombs on fukking innocent civilians and you want to prosthelytize about what your make believe son would be allowed to do.

I think we all know playing pro football for 15 years isn't the safest career path, but you get paid for the risk you take. Just like how people working on high rise structures get a nice paycheck, because risk is factored into their income.

that's because shyt is about to hit the fan there are tons of lawsuits pending and everyone is trying to distance themselves and posture themselves before it really gets ugly...

we are talking about more stories of deaths, suicides, and permanent disabilities that will be coming to light

So we need President Obama's take on it?

The dude who doesn't ever have a son? The dude who is a quiet as a church mouse about police brutality? The dude who signs off on drone bombing?

We need his moral posturing about the league and the safety of the game?

yes because people/media ask the president his views on everything large or small and he needs to be out in front of this issue before it continues to snowball...this will be a bigger issue as more lawsuits come to light and these trials start

large lobbying groups and organizations are/will be involved....prez is being proactive instead of reactionary can't blame the guy

You might have a point as it is going to be getting a lot more attention soon, but it's such a trivial thing in the reality of life.

There is so much more important things than the NFL lawsuit.

Like I said, where is he the great leader when police brutality comes up? shyt just makes me hate politicians even more than I already do.

:yeshrug: nature of the beast....i feel you though but it is what is ...i don't like the back peddling that the NFL is doing either years of selling "greatest hits" tapes and glorifying violent plays and marketing players like Ronnie Lott as bad asses kids should look up to has kinda backfired now...

as far as politics they should have no involvement in this if the NFL as an enterprise can't govern itself then what's the point just have the government take over the sport smh

That's what bothers me most, the fact that now we have the President using this as a political play.

Politicians fukk everything else up, and now they want to get involved in our sports too?

I dislike the backpeddling as well, because the truth is 90% of these players never say a bad thing about the game. Like where's the tape of Seau saying how he regrets playing? :ole he didn't come out of retirement to chase a ring w/the Pats.

It's a choice, just like everything else in life. This whole "victim" culture sickens me. We choose to play football, eat shytty, drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, drive fast, work long hours. These are all choices we make. We as people need to fukking own up and be responsible for ourselves at some point

well to be fair i don't think the prez held a press conference to address the issue i think he was asked and that sound bite made its way around media outlets but it was probably 1/100 of whatever he was doing that day i doubt he had an agenda to talk about it but was prepared to give a statement and give his stance about it....

True story, I`m just fed up with all the victimized sensationalism surrounding the sport in general.

I just love how he has time for this question but let them talk to him about something that matters and he`ll dance around it.

Then you got the dumb ass players going "Yeah, I don't know if I`d let my kids play either". Then retire you idiot. If you think it's that much of a safety risk why are you still doing it?

So the purpose here is just a bash obama thread on the low, correct? I hope you're aware that brain injuries in football is a legitimate concern that deserves dialogue and continued corrective action. It would be irresponsible of us to sweep it under the rug, just so it doesnt interfere with our personal enjoyment of the game.

I think you can see that is obviously being dealt with. The league is going well out it's way to try and protect the players at this point, just watch a game today and watch a game from 1993 and you`ll see that.

I just find it annoying that a man who doesn't even have a child can speak on what his imaginary son would be allowed to do.

Obama pisses me off due to the fact he is the President. I can't stand the idea of a President trying to put his two cents in on something he should have nothing to do with while he fails miserably at most things he should be concerned with.
