Good film , ahead of its time. I heard Rusty Cundieff was originally supposed to direct it , but his version was a bit too extreme for the execs at Univeral

I had seen the info back on the IMDB board back in the days. It was a blog for some producer involved with Universal pictures. Dont know where I can I find current info.
