Anyone else feel like we’re in a drought of young black talent in hollywood?

I would say this goes for young Hollywood in general, not just Black Hollywood. The days of movie stars and motion picture draws are over. There is still a lot of talent out there, but nobody is on the level of prime DiCaprio, Pitt, Denzel.etc in the 90s.

I actually disagree. There's more black acting talent than ever before. It’s that there are no Denzels because the Age of the "Movie Star" is dead.

I agree with everyone who is pointing out all the good-to-great young black actors right now. To me the talent drought isn't in acting, it's in writing. We've had a decade of mediocre black talent elevated while pumping out some of the most asinine, corny "black trauma" films and television. For every Get Out or Moonlight - great films that explored dark themes without feeling exploitive - there are 10 projects that miss the mark. Lots of fukking up the basics, like prioritizing trauma and identity over actual characterization.
