Guru should never be disrespected, Hip Hop legend and a great, he wasn't gay either as everyone credible has denounced that theory flat out. The physical fights sounds more credible but we don't really know. Guru was not a bad human being at all, not perfect but he had some dignity and his legacy should not be tarnished in the slightest.

Jazzmatazz 4 was a hot album. Solar was actually a pretty good producer in my opinion. Most people say he was whack but him and Guru made some great songs, the things I've heard about him are mostly negative but I don't know him so one never knows.

:ld: That's just life bro. People discuss and speculate on all aspects when you pass, obviously multiplied infinitely in the case of a celebrity. I still feel Gangstarr's music, but ALWAYS said that I believed he was carried to a large degree by Premo's beats. But, they were a great combo. Moment of Truth was big for me.

I thought this little fiasco with him and this grifter Solar was one of the craziest things to unfold in recent memory when it happened. I always wanted to know more but it just kinda fizzled out.

Nah I get what your saying, people always will speculate, there's a difference between speculation and flat out disrespect though, even though that will happen too, but it isn't nice to see it about a brother like Guru, and if it is seen hopefully enough people will stand up to defend him, as he cemented his place in Hip Hop to me.

I disagree with that, I think that was a partnership, my favourite over Premo beats has been Guru and probabably KRS-One. Preme is and was a GREAT producer but Guru's distinctive voice, style, content all was a big factor in Gangstarr to me, songs like Moment Of Truth, even Lovesick, they way Guru executed them with righteousness and purity and also technical skill made the magic to me. I think Preme realised it was a partnership also, that's why no matter how much work he got he still always wanted to do more Gangstarr albums, he knew the formula of Guru & Premier worked, if it wasn't for Guru we possibly wouldn't have heard Preme anyway. They were a fantastic partnership to me, equals, but everyones entitled to have their prefernece.

Yeah, it was crazy, it was a sad situation, I want people to revist it no doubt, I want more answers to what happened. I don't think Hip Hop should ever allow an artist like Guru and a duo like Gangstarr to be forgotten. It was an odd situation, I have looked at it in depth, apparently Guru was a very good human being and Solar took advantage, apparently he was a 5%er and was trying to help Guru with his addictions and impurities and Guru being a loyal brother was greatful for that, plus it's been spectulated Premo did some foul things that Guru never revealed. I've heard a lot of infomation is various directions and I'm still open minded, I used to go on that fukk Solar site to read what they were saying too. I wanna hear what cats like Common and even KRS say, I know they were around even in them days at times.

how did Premo fukk Guru over? It's not his fault a hot producer almost always makes more money than a rapper.

:deadrose:

dj scarface could crush this nikka in a beat battle

:why::mindblown::what:

To think all the tracks Ive heard over the years......this is the first time I can think of where someone took this song....sampled it....and it came out fukked up....

Sad to say.....DJ Scarface would crush him :russ::russ:

Thing is too....in the long run, no self-respecting hip-hop artist would ever work with him. The dumb fukk black-balled himself....imagine the backlash someone would get if they worked with him.....that would be career suicide/abortion

I still listen to Gangstarr all the time, Guru is still a legend in my eyes, no matter what he had done towards the end. RIP Guru.

this may sound fukked up, but I like to pretend that Gang Starr broke up after 'The Ownerz' and that was the last we heard from Guru. :yeshrug:
