or former models.

Don't stereotype. THis is a place of higher learning.

I know at elast 3 of each and the para and the fire love their work.
Social workers, at least the 3 i've known start out with a "fire in their belly" then get :why::mindblown::to: at "the system". It's shyt pay, and sometimes far to often heartbreaking.

If you're passionate about it though you can make it.

It's sorta like teaching without the summers off or the ability to make lifelong connections.

How do you like the career? What are the pro's and con's?

I know an ex-social worker. It was considered hard work and doesn't pay well. You really get an opportunity to help people, but you see faults in the system. Like helping a child get into a good foster home, but then the crack head mother wants to get custody back, and because she is the biological mother, the courts give the child back to the mother. Then, she ends up in a dismal situation again and the child ends up back in foster care where that child is screwed up and the original foster care parents don't want the child back because of what they went through in losing the child. Kids go through the worst situations in life and its not their fault. You want to just shoot the biological mother's head off and call it a fix.

Firefighters life, doesn't pay well, it is dangerous work, it can be boring at times, professionals have to live in the firehouse away from their families, but the work is satisfying and you don't get mad mugs when you ride up into the projects like the cops do.

Average wage for a Social Worker in my area is $42.00/hr. Firefighter is about the same.

$42 and hour?

Well, social workers, firefighters, EMTs, and cops in my area usually get a starting pay in the mid to high $30Ks/per year. You can move up into supervisory positions and make more but it takes your decades and tons of promotions to earn $42/hour. :damn:

I contemplated so many different careers/majors and firefighters was one of them:noah: Heard it's really hard to find a job in that field though unless you're down to relocate to the middle of nowhere. You have thousands of applicants applying to one opening:damn:

You're black right?

Shouldn't be too hard to get a firefighting gig...
