Watching now and wondering why the fukk Walt ever settled for being a HS chemistry teacher. My man had the brains to cook up the most piff meth ever seen, imagine if he had put his mind to something legit on his own without Grey Matter.
Weak man with a fragile ego.

I seen an interview with Vince Gilligan and he said Walt chose a profession that would make sense given his knowledge, but that nobody would question. He could say "oh, I wanted to teach the kids", even though that's not actually why he was there. He was there because he had zero self-confidence to pursue any of his dreams. That's why his ego spiraled out of control so fast when he actually did start to gain respect.

Yeah it's why I always said Heisenberg was who he always wanted to be, but it took all these things happening to bring it to the surface.

One of the best scenes, and it's one hardly anyone talks about for the right reason, is in "Shotgun" from season 4. At the end when Walt stupidly runs his mouth to Hank about Heisenberg "still being out there". They focus on Walt's face as Hank talks about how Gale was a genius, and how his intelligence could've helped the world, if he'd taken his life in a different direction....and first you think "oh, Walt feels some kind of regret for his actions, because he knows he could've used his brain for something better than cooking meth"....and then this fool just wants credit for being Heisenberg. shyt was :mindblown: and showed how far gone he was.

That moment was just ridiculous, but I think his ego reached it's peak in Say My Name. Dude was feeling himself way to much you could literally see the boner he had for himself.
