Not really. The only video games I own are DDR on the PS2 and Wii dancing

Ah ok never mind. Because I'd suggest just copping a ps3 or ps4 or xbox one that way you get the video games, the streaming, and the blu ray player all in one. But a standalone blu ray player isn't too expensive and in most, you can get streaming capabilities so either way, it's a good investment

Thanks for that! Just out of curiousity, do you know if the newer playstations are backwards compatible? Or do they just work for games of that version?

Nah definitely not. The first ps3, the very first one, was backwards compatible but now they don't simply because the internal hardware is different than the ps2. Although you can always download ps2 games to play on ps3 from the playstation network and I would assume they're kinda cheap.

The ps4 on the other hand definitely isn't backwards compatible for ps3. I know that can be a deal breaker for some people but if you're still rocking a ps2, you should just keep it and then cop a ps3 or ps4, depending on how serious you are about your gaming. If you know you're going to use it more for streaming and blu rays, cop a ps3 which won't run you too much

Thanks for breaking that down. I really appreciate it!

I'm still debating about buying a blu-ray player. At first, i didn't b/c blu rays cost so much. Now, I just tend to stream. Like I'd rather buy a movie on instant video. And it saves space. but the dvd/blu ray is handy is you want ot watch special features.

Blu-ray players are a lot cheaper now and some come with the majority of streaming services on them. I know I got one for like $40 last year but it didn't come with any extra's. This one on amazon is $50. Its refurbished but it comes with access to most of the streaming sites.

As far as actual disc price, they are down also. They are closer to early-mid 2000's dvd prices ($15-$20) and probably cheaper if you buy around the week of release. I know I saw the first season of Power on sale for $20 the week it released. I know that is a lot cheaper than even a few years ago especially for a whole season of a show.

I rent DVDs (Netflix/Redbox) and very rarely will buy Blu-Rays of some of my all-time faves. That's about it. I don't feel the need to own and collect much anymore.

Buy a Samsung Smart Blu-ray player so you get the best of both worlds.

The reason I suggest you buy 1 from Samsung is because Samsung Smart TVs & Blu-ray players have more apps than Smart TVs & Blu-ray players from other manufacturers.
