Anybody messing around with these new "minimalist" wallets?

Pretty cool, but I’m old school when it comes to my wallet. I like them kinda bulky, and I like mine to look worn.

Got this for $10 and threw it in a drawer for months. Eventually made the switch and I'm never looking back. The one downside is when you are lit at the club trying to get your cash out, it is a little tight

They're not cheap, it's definitely a coolness, gadget factor to it. But, the RFID shielding is legit. I remember about 5 years or so ago I tried to go cashless and only carry my cards in a money clip, but they didn't have these so it didn't work out. I gave up on my cash-only experiment so this might be the route :patrice:

These aren't cheap before the "why would you pay X for a wallet?" comments start up :stopitslime:

Saw an ad yesterday I've been looking at them all day:

RIdge: Way too minimalist and expensive with no features. Plus, their website says the elastic wears out after a few years? :dahell: But these are popular

Another one, that I started looking at was the Fantom:

One I'm thinking about is the Dango:

Looks like the industry is starting to take off and a lot of new models and vendors are showing up.

I’ve had that Dango Dapper without the cutting tool in black for a couple years. I can hide a couple of emergency Benjamins tightly folded between the frame and leather. It’s nice but need to find a nice small leather bifold now..

I ended up getting the Dango. Really like it
  • Great form factor. Fits in your hands perfectly
  • I can't get a whole lot into this wallet. After about 6 cards the backplate "floats." Minor annoyance.
  • pouch slots are too grippy, too hard to get 2nd pouch card out. I didn't really want leather, but I'd guess the fabric ones are slicker.
  • Not worth the price at all. This is luxury buy, conversation piece sort of thing. The price of these is going to start coming down though since this seems to be the new trend
  • Made me really rethink all the crap in my old bifold. I cut down to maybe 1/3 1/4 of the stuff normally in my wallet. Lots of things you can carry on an as needed basis
    • Gift cards
    • Don't need insurance cards any more. Leave them in yoru car and use the insurance company's mobile app with your account set up
    • I've got Garmin Pay on my watch so I cut down to just carrying 2 credit cards; not even my healthcare account card
    • Sounds counterintuitive but I also started using my money clip. I don't actually need to carry cash all the time, so this makes a lot of sense for me. I like money clips better too
  • Like having the multitool. One of those things that i see coming in handy. Used it just today to rip into a bag of bird feed. That's the normal kind of thing you'd have to go looking for a knife or scissors for
