:wtf:

I thought that was the purpose to prevent it .............

Help me out
I had an ACL tear a long time ago and got ACL reconstruction surgery. I was able to get a special brace for it, you have to have a prescription to get one. But the doctor was like they don't prevent re-injury. They just work more on the mental level so you think that your knee is more stable with it.
The main reason the specialty braces don't work is that the brace can only flex in one direction, but the knee can rotate and flex at the same time.

I ended up getting one, but the doctor was right. It doesn't really stabilize your knee. You weight lift to build muscle to stabilize the knee. I still have my knee brace. It's a Breg, really heavy duty. The one good thing it can do is limit range of motion.

I believe it was to stablize the LCL and not the ACL
Same thing. The brace has one hinge and one direction of travel. Your knee can rotate and flex in multiple angles, the ACL, MCL, LCL hold the knee together while it is flexing in all the angles it can.

:manny: Depends on the type of brace, I believe when Bynum first came back he had a brace that prevented lateral movement in the knee. I don't think RG3's was as rigid.

Lakers fans still cringed every time he jumped or landed. The only way a brace could completely prevent any time of injury is if it prevented any type of movement.

It's basically the same idea as thinking you'll never get a head injury/concussion if you wear a helmet. It's definitely better than nothing but injuries are still gonna happen.

Definitely, but I think Bynum's brace was specifically designed to help prevent any "inward" movement of the knee, or at least more then Griffins. But that type of brace really restricts movement and would never work in football. If RG3 had that brace, he would have been tackling dummy status.
