People don’t even mention the lifespan of home gym equipment. If something needs to be repaired who do you call?
The equipment you buy comes with a warranty so if something happens you just reach out to the company. A piece came off one of my jhooks. I took a picture, sent it to the company and they sent me a new pair.

I bought a squat rack with a pull up bar, a barbell, some wieght, 2 kettlebell, 1 slam ball in a 6 month periode during lockdown.
It cost me basically half a year of crossfit gym. I cancelled all my gym membership and am very happy.

Next step is to get more plates.
It change your life to have to go the the garage or pull up your kettlebell within your home to train.

Home gyms are when you have a family, less time to workout, the space and money for it.

Why get all your gains at home when the gym baddies are at the gym?

Plus my gym is literally 5 mins, even less depending on the traffic lights from my house. $180 a year that ain’t shyt.

My main gyms are free and usually less than that as far a travel goes. :takedat:

Plus I like using a lot of gym shyt non-celebs can't afford cost/space-wise.

I also enjoy the social aspect of seeing my gym brehs and getting at gym thots. :yeshrug:

During quarantine I had less motivation to workout. Much easier for me to drive to the gym as I’m already there. Too many distractions at home.

i make my own gym equipment, i first went that route cause i was on a super tight budget and found out i enjoy it. it just hits different working out in something you made and take pride in. :wow:

there's plans for all kinds of equipment out there, i put together a power rack with chinning bar, a weight tree, a calf raise block, and a bunch of other random stuff for less than $125. if my housemates didn't have an incline bench already i would have built one of those too. since then i've made kettlebells, plyo boxes, a deadlifting platform, all sorts of shyt... next time i'm living in a house i wanna try my hand at a rowing machine. oh yeah and moving's also real easy, just take your weights with you and turn everything else into firewood lol.

the handle is two 4"-ish pipe nipples + two end caps + a t-fitting, with another 10-12" nipple as the body

the weights are just regular plates, hold them in place with a flange on the end of the body + a spring collar in the middle. add red threadlocker to make it permanent, or blue if ur only gonna change the weight once in a while.

if u don't like wearing gloves then don't bother, one handed lifts are gonna tear ur hands up

Mines is coming along nicely but a bit at a time

Moved into my house (2700 SQFT) in February this year. Got 2 big azz living rooms. Turning the 1 in the front of the house into the gym , Higher clearance than the garage (Orginally choice for gym) and more space too

I've got:

  • Heavy Bag
  • Jump Rope
  • Kettle Bell
  • Dumb Bells (just 1 set of 35s)
It's a decent start and meets my my needs. but I still wanna add a dumb bell set, EZ-curl bar set, Collapsible bench and a pull-up/dip station

It's the best setup for me

I'm an impulsive exerciser. When I get the notion to workout, I can walk straight into the room and get it in right then and there. I dont have to worry about the commute time and traffic. Also dont have to worry about losing motivation to workout in between my commute. This also gives me no excuse to put off activity. at least 15 min of HIIT everyday.

I even got a wall mount for my phone when I'm working out

I love my set up and only half way there

I'll be moving into my house in the next two weeks and I got a two car garage and want to make my own home gym. What are the essentials I should strive to get and what is the best way to be cost efficient? I know I want to get a cheap tv mounted to watch workout programs and a punching bag.
Get a cheap power rack off Craigslist, FB marketplace and just haul it over to your garage.

Negotiate on the price like a mfer. As expensive as they are online (because of shipping, metal costs) they’re hunks of junk taking up space to anyone selling them.

You’re actually doing them a favor by taking it off their hands. 99.9% of the time it’s just taking up space and hasn’t been touched in years. Especially the weights.

Don’t waste thousands online for some industrial powerlifting rack made imported from Sweden that will fulfill the exist same purpose as the cheap one up the street.
