I'll be moving into my house in the next two weeks and I got a two car garage and want to make my own home gym. What are the essentials I should strive to get and what is the best way to be cost efficient? I know I want to get a cheap tv mounted to watch workout programs and a punching bag.

I don't have one but I priced it out and it came to about $7000, but I'm bougie. :mjpls:

That included a rack, two bars, plates, a deadlift platform, plate tree, and a bench.

For me the problem with home gyms is that they're so limiting. Spend all that cash just to be able to do barbell lifts: no machines, no cables, nothing.

I don't know the exact number but I would guess I spent a total of 5-6k but I got more than just the essentials. Here's the bare minimum imo:

Adjustable Bench
Power Rack
Barbell
Plates

Now depending on the rack you get, you can get a cable attachment. Like @All-Black the Necroverse mentioned, if you are trying to completely replace the gym, it gets very costly. That said you can get good quality essentials for a decent price.

It ain’t all bad breh my homie got a pull up bar , dumb bells and a bench . He was consistent went from 145 to 215 . Took about 6 years but I would say 4 of those years was done at home . He works out 5 days a week at home .

Ole buddy shoulda got a barbell. He gained 70 over 6; I gained 45 over 3. Both of us ended up at the same weight. :takedat:

Also, if it doesn't have a power rack it's not a gym, home or commercial. :yeshrug:

I just said he works out at home :ld:.

My point was it’s not impossible .

He had minimal equipment and he was able to make gains .

Tracking. I never said it was impossible to make gains at home, just cost-prohibitive to mimic a commercial gym at home. The payback period for a nice setup is also quite long. :hubie:

Also, BBs >>> * IMO. YMMV. :yeshrug:

Also moved recently, was pricing up a full gym but it quickly got ridiculous :mjlol:and I got the GOAT gym about 5 mins from me when I wanna lift heavy so for my garage I ordered:

Set of kettlebells
Heavy bag
Pull up/ dip bar
And some bands n shyt I already have

Not all set up yet but it would mean I can just roll out of bed and get a workout in or real late at night when Im just up bullshyttin. My wife wants in too so she'll be hitting the pads

Depending on your goals though, if you wanna put on size just join a gym imo.

If you just wanna stay fit, what I got is cool.

Guess it depends on your definition of ridiculous. If you get the basics, the cost won't be too bad. Mine wasn't that bad and I got a few extras that most people probably wouldn't.

Home gyms are when you have a family, less time to workout, the space and money for it.

Why get all your gains at home when the gym baddies are at the gym?

Plus my gym is literally 5 mins, even less depending on the traffic lights from my house. $180 a year that ain’t shyt.
