I shook my head at this couple buying some off-brand 70 inch tv for $598 at Wallimart.

TV that size should be a name brand, no questions.

I've had a Dynex since 2008 and it's still great and hasn't crapped out.

Got a Seiki from Compusa in 2010 and it's great. Same with the Element I have. I don't get too caught up in brands if the price is right.

But we are going to invest in a high end TV next year tho :manny:

I have a 40 inch dynex from about 4 years ago, it still works fine.. never had any problems, but the quality of the picture is definitely not up to lar with my 40 inch and 52 inch Toshibas.

I would definitely stay away from off brands at this point. Not from a durability standpoint, but a quality standpoint

and to keep it completely 100, if I wasn't a gamer I wouldn't even bother buying an HDTV, movies look the same on a HDTV and tube to me, games are the only sh1t that look different

:manny:

Between this and your claims that you can't see a different between PC and console graphics, you obviously have some kinda horrific eye problem. Go get that shyt checked out breh.

Go Plasma. You can get a 51 inch Samsung Plasma for under $500 these days. Bought my parents one just so I didn't have to suffer with SDTV when I visit them. SAMs Club had these for $488 last weekend when I went. I helped a guy load 2 on his cart...

Any brand can crap out on you. Toshiba, Sony, and Samsung do have models that have very impressive picture quality.

I don't know shyt about tv's

Just last month, I ended up buying a '55 inch Insignia LED from Best Buy.

shyt was normally 900, but they had it on sale for 600.

1080p...120hz

Looked good in the store.

But ever since I set it up in my living room, I get bad vibes from that muthafukka.

It looked better in the store when it was hanging 10 ft up on the wall.

It just don't have that crispness to it.I had a 50 inch Hitachi Plasma(shyt burned out on me, though) that I bought in '07......it totally shyts on the 2012 Insignia I just bought in terms of picture quality.

Basketball games look terrible on that shyt. The court looks clear as fukk, but the players look a lil blurry. You can't see the numbers on their jersey's all that great. When I had the Hitachi, it felt like I was right there on the court with the players.Everything was clear.

I'd rather go watch the game in my son's room.He has a 32 inch Sony Bravia and once again, it shyts on the Insignia i just bought.

I got a 55 inch Westinghouse for $350 on a Black Friday sale. It looks just as good if not better than my lg. and it's still running strong.

I'd say read some reviews and as long as they don't say the tv will break on you, then go for it.

do your research.

I bought a 42 inch Emerson that was on sale at Sears a few years back because dudes on TV forums were saying that specific model was actually a Samsung TV with Emerson branding. Sure enough, I got the TV for mad cheap and when it arrived, I peeked through the back and all the parts said Samsung on them. Even hooked it up to my streaming player and it said I had connected a "Samsung model xx-xxxx". Needless to say, I did the come up shuffle in my underwear that day. That TV is WAY better than the LG that I got for a lot more money.
