Do what u got to do to survive.. it's 2013 and we are in a great depression

Don't listen to people to a certain extent in terms of going for your dreams.. There's detours and u-turns in life u can't help.. but at the same time u have to eat, sleep and shyt and non of these nikkas are paying your rent or light bills.. so do what u got to do till u find that fork in the road to break away..

Listen to me because i been through it and basically still is.. I'm not pulling 6 six-figures living in beverly hills or fukking dimes on a nightly bases...I'm nikka who has a understanding what a 9 to 5 or 3 to midnight shift is and how to manage my life..

ive recently found my "calling" in life at the age of 30 as far as the type of work i wanna do for the rest of my working life. ive worked mainly warehouse or security type jobs most my life. loved some and hated some. both have their positives and negatives but i did some thinking as to why i was almost always unhappy with the jobs i was at: and the answer was COWORKERS or a$$hole supervisors.. im a very introverted person and it dawned on me that the perfect type job for my personality was something where i worked solo and the truck driving/delivery field is right up that alley. i ended up switching careers this year and getting a delivery job driving a truck and i absolutely loved it. i worked solo, didnt have to worry about messy coworkers or an azzhole supervisor micromanaging everything for 8hrs. i go on break when i want to for how long i want to. its not the most glamourous of jobs but i can honestly say that i enjoy it and there's no stress involved. i won :win:

i agree with this and all and its true but its more about being realistic and realizing how this world works. REALISTICALLY SPEAKING only maybe 5% of ppl are gonna be able to do something that you are passionate about. this is real life and not a disney movie. only a veeeery small lucky few are gonna grow up and get paid to sing or paid to write stories or paid to dance or paid to play a sport or design clothes or draw. i think in this society we've made for ourselves the lucky ones are the ones who have a job that they are atleast "content" with and dont dread going to. most ppl HATE their job so if you can find one thats as stress free as possible and has qualities in it that suits your personality then you've won

Somethin I seen Malta mention a number of times that a lot of you need to consider is travel. Just save up some money and go to another country, take in a new culture, experience something outside of America

And what about you? What do you like to do (general q for any poster). The bolded is true if you make that your reality. You can make a living doing something you truly enjoy but it doesn't mean it'll happen fast or easy. Maybe you have to take that job you don't like so much and work there for a couple of years while focusing on how you can turn your passion area into a career on the side. Complacency is a disease brehs, you've got one life..be a risk taker, don't settle

Your job shouldn't be the center of your universe or the only factor of success you're judged by.
Also, don't be pigeonholed into a field you dislike because of responsiblities
If you don't like what you're doing, look elsewhere dammit

I understand this and I'm blessed to be able to do what I can do. I just think, through understanding how the world works and travelling the right channels people would be able to find their spots in life. Too often do people get stagnant and waster 20-40 years of their life at a dead end job. People in prison get degrees.

Maybe it isn't those things you listed that these people would do, but whats stopping the dude in the warehouse from picking up some books and looking to make a change in his life? He's working the same dead end job that people trying to design clothes, write stories, or dance, work to fund those pursuits. I think its up to the person to look at themselves, their station in life, choose a destination, and make use of reality to get there. If it's not in them, it's not in them. But the obstacles are there in order for you to succeed over them.

That's my dream job. But I can't afford driving lessons :ohlawd:

I might join the military as a driver. Then they will pay for all my extra hgv licenses and shyt. And I'll be set for life. :win:

Eh.... :manny:

As 9-5's go I've got it pretty good.

I make my own hours, work in my boxers, my commute is a 13 second walk to my laptop, I make well over 6 figures, and don't have to deal with office drama.

Still, for some reason it's not enough. :manny:
