The Wrong Side of the Tracks
All dependent on the state. States like TX, Abbott has little power hence why he does the goofy shyt that he does. Patrick and Phelan have way more influence on state legislature and the power they yield. Massachusetts has a strong legislative body as well. But a state like Florida has a powerful executive branch compared to others.

Edit: to answer your question, very little. Even a city like NOLA drives its states economy and basically funds the mf but lawmakers in BR seem to go out their way to screw them over. You see it TX with Harris County and the takeover by the state of their entire public schools.
Might have to go State-by-State to get a better understanding. Let's try it this way: Can the Governor of a State influence a Senator or Representative of that State? Who has more power within a State?

Thanks in advance.

Some more digging.....

Whereas the Federal Government and State governments share power in countless ways, a local government must be granted power by the State. In general, mayors, city councils, and other governing bodies are directly elected by the people.

The Diaspora
1000% depends on the politicians and the location.

Mitt Romney probably has the most influence in the state of Utah even though he’s not the “leader” on paper . Lisa Murkowski too in Alaska. While in Michigan Governor Whitmer has by far the most influence/power

OK a lot of the stuff out there is subscription-based but there are some free sites for federal and state tracking. Namely Open Data & Democracy and NCLS both provide a repository of databases for state and local trackers.

And GovTrack.us is a database of all congressional legislation and it's searchable by bill and topic:

This is the site/app started by Captain America himself, Chris Evans. I love this app because you can get the gist of what different candidates think about different issues in their own words. The app is way better than the website, but here's the website: Counterpoints - A Starting Point

Also, these two are really cool. Open Secrets is nonpartisan, independent and nonprofit and it tracks money in U.S. politics and its effect on elections and public policy: OpenSecrets

Same with FollowTheMoney: Home - FollowTheMoney.org

In terms of local politics, the best tracker available right now is VoteSmart: The Voter's Self Defense System

Ballotpedia is trying to monitor a lot of this too. I'm not sure how effective they are but it's something: Local Politics

i am but i don't get the question

at this point, i think it's you vote for either republicans or democrats. that's it. that's the game.

that abstaining shyt aint gonna do anything other than make one of those win
that green party shyt aint gonna do anything other than make one of those win
Thank you. I know I'm not phrasing it right, but it's the best I can do until I get more knowledge on the subject. Kinda difficult to phrase the questions I'd like answered without it and the constant back-and-forth from people in here doesn't make it particularly easy to separate what we as a group can do from what we can't.

Poli Sci undergrad and masters (American Govt and Political Parties/systems) grad but I refuse to talk politics on this site. You’re not gonna gain anything. If you want a level headed response, just go to political science subreddit and can guarantee your questions have already been answered
I'll keep that in mind.

Thanks for your input.

Nikka your one vote don’t matter :mjlol: .

You can save it
That's the problem. It isn't about ONE vote. There's ~40 million of us and we need to move as a unit. We've been too complacent for too long and allowed grifters, charlatans, and con-men to infiltrate and disorganize us.

:salute:

Spent about 45 minutes on A Starting Point. Can't install the app on my personal phone or PC's because FUKKIN' APPLE!!!! Just hearing what those politicians discussed made it a bit easier to comprehend how the higher levels of Government move and why.

Gonna check the other links you supplied.

Much appreciated!!
