I am comfortable and I love you
I started making beats in 1989 with Roland R-8, a Yamaha DX7 keyboard and Alesis MMT 8 Midi Sequencer and used my boy's 4-track recorder. then around 94-95 got an Akai rack mount sampler...I think it was the S900 or the S2800. I really showing my age here. :mjlol:

I stopped because rhyming was my first priority so when I found someone who was a better producer than me, I let them do all the tracks. I am JUST now getting back in to it a couple months now. Got an MPC Live, amazing how you only need software now or one piece of hardware.

The S950 was my first sampler I bought when I was 16 breh. Think I paid $200 for it, prices on those are crazy now. Still have and use that joint. There's a plug in to emulate it now, but as most plug ins, its only about 75% there. Im mostly in software now and this shyt is blowing my mind. I'm isolating breaks I never thought I'd be able to use.

I'm looked on as an old skool dude to though and i'm only 30.
I'm kinda stuck in the 90's/00's soundwise. The only new trend i like beatwise is Lo-Fi beats.
I personally mix Lo-Fi with Hi-Fi sounds i would say.

MPC Live, Akai Force, Logic and Reason.
As someone just getting into production, what is the reason(s) for using logic and reason in tandem?

One of my friends basically told me reason is more for beat building and would help tie that into the whole recording process. Is that correct to a degree?

I would use Reason as a sound source and Logic as the sequencer. Reason has tons of synths and sounds built in to sculpt. Also Reason has a 30 day free trial so I think you can use it in full no strings attached.

Also as of Reason 11 you can now just use Reason as a VST/AU in logic or any daw, makes life much easier.

So would you consider Fl Studios to be more of an alternative to Logic or Reason?

Im literally only one week into learning fl studios but I want to make sure I'm investing my time on the best DAW to integrate my mpc live into

Started with with shytty 5 second sampler in 92. Then got the sp1200 in '95 (Wish I never got rid of it in the late '00s) and used the mpc 2000xl from 90s to early '10s. Now rock with:

mpc renaissance
Mpc mini
Sp404
Sampletrak224
Akai s3000xl
A little shytty turntable for records.
Microkorg And a few other Korg volcas for some live jamming.

I use logic x just for a few touch ups but I just stay in mpc studio for everything u less it's some jamming then I just record into a little tascam tape deck.

At this point I just want to continue to be a legacy producer/dj/composer/artist.

22 years is a damn long time to be creating music and now younger generations have been discovering my work.
The whole lofi genre has quite a presence and is carrying the hiphop legacy imo.

I remember when the community was just a bunch of hardware guys complaining about software. lol, It's come along way.
