Jackasses try to conflate the two for their own gains. If you're able to come here legally or able to get legal residency through official channels, good stuff
I have some sympathy for illegals, but they shouldn't have to come here and they need to be forcibly deported
You are on a forum with a bunch of Black people communicating, and you make an assertion that everyone is an immigrant except native Americans. Well, that is not true. There is also another group that are not immigrants, but instead were dragged here by immigrants. My Ancestors were not immigrants, were yours?Aren't the vast majority of people actually inside the US borders the product of immigrants?
More specifically, Europeans, Africans, Indians from India, Asians, and Arabs.
If you're not 100% native then you're at least in part here from somewhere else on the globe.
SOHH called illegals are prolly more "American" than whoever is tryna check them for being here.
Besides the Natives of North America (I would guess there's VERY FEW pure blooded natives, if ANY still exist) the native people of Central and South America are more deserving of being here than people from across the ocean who have conquered the land.
American in the same vein as European or African, but not American in the vein of US Citizen. Those are two different things. Example, if I went to Mexico and stayed there illegally, I would still be American as in I am from the North American continent, but I would not be Mexican until I actually did what was necessary to obtain citizenship. So they could feasibly lock me up and deport me for being their illegally.Immigrants are 100% American as soon as we get our citizenship. And I believe arguably are American before they get our citizenship. You're right
I'm talking about permanent residency. I came here as a permanent resident as a baby and got my citizenship later on. Permanent residents are not citizens but here legallyAmerican in the same vein as European or African, but not American in the vein of US Citizen. Those are two different things. That is a very particular circumstance that you did not specify in your original statement that was very general in nature. Your circumstance only holds for DACA, which can be argued as being the case for those like you. Those coming across the border as adults though, can not be put under that umbrella and most of the recent arrivals have been adults.I'm talking about permanent residency.
