People underestimate the impact of pressure. Doing it when nobody is really worried about you and doesn't see you coming vs doing it with Pac's best selling album is totally different. T Wolves coulda been a playin team last year or missed the playoffs altogether and nobody woulda batted an eye. Ant got the Mike comparisons and they went to the WCF last so of course expectations went up this year. And this is really the first time that he or this team has had that. Team definitely didn't help him by moving the perfect 4 man for him. Don't know what behind the scenes stuff went on there but you can see the difference even on 2K .
I called it last season too…
Ant is still playing with house money, he’s had no “failures” because he’s had no “expectations”. Heading into this season, nobody expected the Wolves to be a challenging for a title. Even if they lose in the WCF, it’ll still be considered a successful season.
We’ll see people’s real feelings about Ant when him carrying Minnesota to deep playoff runs every year becomes the expectation and not the cool surprise
Expectations changes everything, only so long you can be the fun young team or fun young star before people start flipping on you because you’re not reaching whatever arbitrary benchmark they’ve placed on you. Ant is only 23, he’s still years away from his prime in all likelihood.
The same shyt talk and honesty that people loved, they now gonna find problems with it
