James is the best player in the world, but he’s 34 and Father Time is undefeated. As James ages out then AD can carry the Franchise. AD, James, and solid vets like Lance and Rondo can get you to the WCF THIS year.

I know that. I am talking about in July...and they can sign AD then if Kyrie agrees to extension, he doesnt have to be traded at that time.

I agree, he hasnt proved to be that impactful. However, he's better than Love ever could be and he is more versatile than Dwight and may be better anyway since Dwight clogged the middle and the day of the traditional center is gone at least for the moment.

As far as him improving his team...the onus is on the organization and they were horrible. Some of the worse contracts in history, Asik, Ajinca, Hill, then they basically let Boogie walk with the deal they offered him. They got Nico and Julius but too little too late.

Versatility means very little when it cannot lead to 50 wins. AD is much better than Love, but his impact on the winning column is closer to Love's than Howard's.The Magic organization is just as bad as NO and yet Dwight got them to the finals as the centerpiece and consistently made them winners with rosters made up of mainly journeymen.

That's also while being an iron man during his first 7 seasons, only missing 7 games total in 7 years.

Dwight played 8 years in Orlando and made the playoffs 6 times. Look at Orlando's record during Howard's tenure:

However if they trade lebron for AD then you can possible get these guys. Kawhi kd to go along with AD.

1. Anthony davis is not a free agent this summer.
2.They lose cap flexibility after this year with Ingram RFA if they don't do anything/sign a max player this year.
3.They are better off trading for AD now then using the rest of the cap space for depth this summer. Rather than waiting till the summer when a bunch of teams (celtics) will have offers available for AD.

they dont have time to wait on Boston to agree to give them Tatum AND Brown. The feeling is that AD wants to play with Kyrie, whether its Boston, NYK or wherever. they are friends. if he doesnt get to play with Kyrie, he would want to play with another ALL NBA player and Boston doesnt have that. he would have to wait til July AND THEN Kyrie would have to agree to a new deal with the Celts.
