Honestly, is marriage really worth it for men?
If you want a family, if you want a voice in the household your child is raised in, if you don’t want your children interacting with males that are not family members, then marriage is pretty important.
Had to look that up for myself. He's right.
African Americans and Black Community - Healthy Marriage and Responsible Fatherhood (healthymarriageinfo.org)
• Black women divorce at a rate nearly double of either white or Hispanic women.
Marriage to Divorce Ratio in the U.S.: Demographic Variation, 2018 (bgsu.edu)
- Black women were the only group that had a higher divorce rate than marriage rate, with nearly 31 divorces per 1,000 married women aged 15 and older and only 17.3 marriages per 1,000 unmarried women.
Doesn’t surprise me. Most BW were raised in households where there is no male breadwinner and learn how to be self sufficient from their mother.
Many white and Hispanic women simply cannot operate without a man. They lack robust work history, independent financial security, and/or housing. They not about leave their husband because that would mean leaving their comfortable lifestyle.
BW usually play a much larger role in their own financial security, so packing up and leaving isn’t as big of a blow.
