Hyperbole is a key ingredient of satire. Yes, there are people who claim to belong to either side and reinforce negative stereotypical views that the other side has over the other, to breed more conflict. Just a joke thing. If you've ever been in such threads when it was a hot topic, ignorant people used to say a lot of ignorant things you wouldn't believe.

I don't remember the exact thread but it was about African food and the replies were hilarious and sad.
