The first time American John Allen Chau made it to the remote North Sentinel Island in the Indian Ocean, he came bearing gifts that included a football and fish.

He interacted with some of the tribesmen — who survive by hunting, fishing and collecting wild plants and are known for attacking anyone who comes near with bows and arrows and spears — until they became angry and shot an arrow at him.

It struck a book Chau was carrying, and the 26-year-old adventurer and Christian missionary swam back to a boat of fishermen that was waiting at a safe distance.

That night, he wrote about his adventures and left his notes with the fishermen. He returned to the island the next day, on Nov. 16.

What happened then isn’t known, but on the morning of the following day, the fishermen watched from the boat as the tribesmen dragged Chau’s body along the beach.

Not only was he warned by mainlanders prior to visiting, the first day he went there the tribesmen shot a warning arrow at him to get him to leave the island

Wrong. Islam is as foreign to Black Africans as Christianity. Both are religions of foreign Arab and European invaders. Just because Islam arrived before Christianity does not make it more African or Black.

Wrong Well kinda wrong. Islam is originally foreign but that's not my point. My point is it has not been massively spread by arabs. That's the deed of black Africans tribes who went and converted other tribes, and also largely contributed to African history with crazy empires etc etc.

Plus the fact that Islam basically fused with traditional animist cults in plenty places.

So Islam originally foreign? Well duh. Now is Islam not African? Highly debatable (and dead wrong imo). Same thing for Christianity (see Ethiopia).
