I was just in Colombia for 2 weeks. Had zero issues

Granted I don’t step foot in Medellin, Cartagena, bogota, Cali

I prefer the cities that Americans haven’t tainted yet (Bucaramanga, Santa Marta, Cucuta, Riohacha). I was in Riohacha a week, didn’t meet another foreigner.

how do you get to those small towns (compared to medellin/bogota ) ? I imagine there's no international airports nearby .

you just travel by bus ?

You gotta hit Santa Marta. My favorite city in Colombia. Best beaches & hiking are day trip away if you’re into that type of thing. It’s just laid back, which is more my speed as opposed to a cartagena.

Riohacha was very interesting…it’s in a desert almost so I went to Guajira and did a desert tour was riding atvs and shyt that was fun. Visited an indigenous(Wayuu) community also, they still live like they did 300 years ago.

Yeah I'm defenitely gonna hit Santa Marta and yes it's wild that You can go a few hours away and live in a totally Almost Pre Colombian situation.

Cucuta, Riohacha, Santa Marta, Bucaramanga all have airports but you’d have to fly to Bogota first. What I did was take a 3.5 hour bus ride from Santa Marta to Riohacha.

Wasn’t that bad, air conditioned with WiFi. Was knocked out most of the ride ticket was $8

Regional airports are a thing for most cases, there are Buses but that is for intraregional stuff. Intra country flights are super cheap.

Again you have the expense and time needed to fly all the way here I never got it and going to Brazil like nikkas was talking about even back in the 90's? Rio is like ten hours from Southern Colombia. I know a white boy who's in Rio now partially because he couldn't really smash like he wanted to here, same cac ran from Sosua because prices for everything was too high.
