It started out with white indentured labourers(not slaves) and the indians, but they couldn't hold up physically.

So black slaves came over.

And more slaves ended up in Brazil that anywhere else

1. There were very early Angolan enslaved Africans who contributed to Melungeon ancestry. They came over from Africa before everyone else.
2. There were Irish and Black people enslaved here and in the Caribbean. There are actually pockets of Black/Irish (both) people who know their history and identify as such (some of their videos are on youtube). I have an Irish relative (among others) with a Black haplogroup (America)...coincidentally, through an Angolan male line. Their masters here and there were White.
3. There were forced inter-relations between African men and Irish women.

I actually stayed in a black master's house in NOLA. Very interesting experience.
