Yup, when you start seeing the old heads in a company...the ones who have been sitting at the desk drinking a cup of coffee for 15 years getting let go you're in bad shape. I know that doesn't make a lot of sense because you would think they're the first to go, but it never works that way. They'll keep them for whatever reason over the new young intern that busts his butt all day. Don't ask me why, I just know from experience that's the best tell tale sign of things

What work place have u worked in? its those young interns busting their asses that are paid less and the most hungry.Any boss with common sense hangs on to those and gets rid of long tenured employees that are due for pay raises and have become comfortable.
