Some of the dumbest poorest white trash lives in Pittsburgh.

My dad from there been going there my whole life

I visited Pittsburgh for the first time in 2018 and it was a real culture shock..it was the first place ive been to where white folk are the majority. 90% of em looked like they were on meth or just came out a coal mine. And Primanti Bros was trash. Id visit again tho

This only works when you apply the same logic to ALL foreign direct investment and acquisitions. This isn't a Chinese company buying an American company, it's our closest Asian ally.

How about you research what this would've meant for the region...

Like I said, a bunch got damn contrarian idiots in this country.

US Steel will probably close in the near future without a buyer.

If the company shuts down, the region will suffer.

Only politicians of all flavors think the deal is bad, because it's under the guise of protectionism.

Nippon is buying the company for 150% of it's actual value and will inject investment into the company for it to grow again.

Japan ≠ China
This is a tough one. On one hand, you want to save American jobs but on the other, America continues to be bought out by foreign investors. At least it’s Japan but I wished it was a Japan/USA joint venture investing together maybe (only to be eventually fully bought out by Japan later, unfortunately)….

See biden opposed the deal last year, thats when the unions got mad and upset with the Biden administration because Biden wanted more time to look at the deal and see if America people would get fukk

But the unions was upset in PA and since Trump is this real business man oh he going to come in and automatically get the deal done and trump said no no no and now they looking foolish

Understood. But Japan isn't an adversary, they're barely a competitor. This speaks volumes to the US wanting to become more isolationist because Nippon is willing to overvalue a company just to maintain a good standing with our commercial partners. And not all revenue generated would be capital flight out of the country. It's similar to how car manufacturers manufacture here to avoid tariffs and such. This is a net positive, especially for a part of the country that's continuing a slow 50 year decline.

Good points and good analogy.

No doubt. Definitely some things you want to protect, strategic industries and such which you can argue steel is one because we don't want to import it if we can help it, but given that we aren't a major steel manufacturer anymore and this manufacturer is in the ironically named rust belt, it's a net positive.

At best, it's just politicians posturing that are going to screw over the people in that region even more, which is coincidentally causing them to vote more and more out of their own interests. At worst, wouldn't surprise me if the few remaining steel industries in the country are in politicians ears to say don't let them do that, so they can buy up assets and mines for pennies on the dollar when US Steel finally collapses.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Americans need to stop acting like escorts. On one had cac talk that "American First" and "Make America Great Again", but want a Japanese company to buy your shytty ass factory.

CAC need to pull their bootstraps up. Foreign companies have been bailing out American companies for decades.
