Are you talking about Muv-Luv Alternative or Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse? Total Eclipse is a spinoff set in the same world as Muv-Luv Alternative. It got an anime a long time ago. Muv-Luv Alternative just had it's first season in Fall 2021 and a second season will be this year.

There's a tv show out there but I remember watching it went it was airing and I was in high school and back then I thought it sucked.

Total Eclipse never was finished. I doubt it ever will be but the visual novel is being released in English this winter. I think they're going to try to adapt the full Muv-Luv Alternative in the two anime seasons but it's going to be a challenge.
