Megan the Stallion and Michael B Jordan are repping anime proudly. It's fully mainstream now :manny:

The masses are getting on board with JRPGs with Persona and Japanese games in general with the Yakuza series

One Piece is the only Shonen that never took off all the way here in the States and it's still pretty popular

Anime fell off the moment Season 2 of Noragami ended, and will pick back up when Season 3 is announced

It speaks to the lack of variety and interesting messaging in American media. A lot of shows these days usually follow one of these formats:
1.unrealistically good looking people competing to date eachother.
2. Law enforcement tracking down unrealistically sophisticated crime networks
3. Doctors and nurses treating exotic diseases
4. A weak adaptation of a work made several years ago.
5. Chuck Lorre style sitcoms.
6. Poorly animated family cartoons.

And they usually have pretty forgettable protagonists and characters that get killed off just as people are starting to like them.

Anime is more relatable to an audience that's gotten tired of seeing the same kinds of things. Its part of the reason the marvel products are so popular too. They have characters who are flawed and suffer setbacks but keep persevering until they win like captain america, thor, or Spiderman. Its part of the reason pro wrestling is still popular(might even argue MORE now because people can watch all sorts of wrestling promotions)

People want to see characters take Ls and grow from them in new and creative ways or characters who develop substantial friendships. A lot of anime is like that.

Been thinking about getting into anime lately. I dunno where to start or look or shyt. Only saw Yasuke

Similar to movies, what genre do you enjoy? Power Struggles like DBZ and Naruto? Mechas like Gundam? Physiological similar to Death Note? There’s so much to choose from :banderas:

My recommended list for entry is:

Cowboy Bebop (12 Episodes)
Samurai Champloo (12 Episodes)
91 Days (12 Episodes)
Death Parade (12 Episodes)
Afro Samurai (5 Eps + Movie)

Thats because anime be doing some sick ass shyt sometimes that other mediums just dont do.

If your a person that isnt aware or cant recognize that, then your also a human that likely can't produce anything creatively sick visually.

Like if I asked a dude that never watched ANY anime, to make a sick fight scene for me. Guarantee that shyt would be wack because they would lack a roledex of sick inspiration to pull from.

nikkas that dont digest anything of asian influence are usually never sick at anything artistic. Just people who consume art but can never make it.

Bland people. They could never produce a raid movie or something in their lives.

Like theres a sickness required to make this:

that alot of bland people that dont watch anything wouldn't be able to replicate. Even of you dont watch anime, you gotta admit that shyt is sicker than what americans will generally do with cartoons or action.

Dont agree? Then you're the type of human that would make a bland forgettable fight scene.
