FF7 broke it
A lot of people really didn't fukk with it once they actually played it or saw the in game. The trailer got a lot of people on board but a good portion of non rpg players really weren't down with the actual game. I was one of them.

Pokemon was a jrpg without one really thinking they were playing a game like Final Fantasy. It was easy to pickup and play with a very short learning curve.

anime is colorful, complex, moves fast enough for the average American attention span (guess that why i never hear anyone geeking out over Mushishi, one of the GOAT anime IMO), and the best shows / movies can stand next to the any great live action tv show or film.

i just see anime is another form of entertainment. I might watch a documentary, might watch an episode of "prestige drama" (aka pretentious bullshyt) or a film, could be American or from any other country, or read a book, listen to music, listen to a podcast, watch a video essay on Youtube. It's all entertainment we consume to pass the time. I'm trying to find a balance between consuming, producing / engaging in hobbies, and having a social life. Don't want to be an uncultured mf who just wants to turn up all the time but you can't be a shutin or some basic mf who just watches Netflix with your girl when you aren't at work.

You ain’t even made it to the war at MARINE hq :mjlol: at least finish that and make it to the 2 year time skip :francis:

One Piece > all shonen
I just got back into One Piece and kinda wish I didn't stop. Originally I finished Water 7, skipped to Marineford, left OP alone for a few years, then started back at Wano last year. Now I'm going hundreds of episodes back to understand what's going on and who's who:skip:

Don't be so quick to count out top Naruto characters, especially naruto himself. Ofc he ain't freeza or Goku level, but they can mess around with some of these low tier Tournament of Power characters for sure. It's what Roshi said himself, the techniques of Dragon Ball characters are too simple, especially compared to Naruto characters. This video is probably the most accurate video of this topic:

Oh okay. I just put my two cents in because others were, genuinely don't care about bringing up naruto in a Dragon ball thread

This reminded of something: In the late 1990s Eiichiro Oda actually helped Nobuhiro Watsuki on Rurouni Kenshin, and since we're going to Wano soon I'm pretty sure he's gonna take a lot of influence from Ruroni Kenshin.

That's what I'm saying. They was literally boxing until they teeth was falling out. Also that part where sasuke got naruto to weave hand signs with him to do a fireball justu. Tbh the only fight that had more taijutsu than this one in that arc was the Might guy (8 gates) vs Madara

Tbh almost every character that had a dope back story and dope moments in the first part of naruto becomes a useless character. Remember when we learned of Neji's back story and his dilemma? After his fight with Kidomaru what did we really see him do? Same thing with everyone on the Sasuke recovery team except Shikamaru. They were thrown to the waste side completely when Shippuden hit. That's one of the biggest flaws of Naruto tbh.
