The animes I watched a long way back were Desert Punk, Black Lagoon and Gurren Lagaan. Those were some good ones.

edit: Ergo Proxy was alright too, just a little depressing and most of the time I was like 'goin on. But it all comes together at the end.

I kept trying to get into Darker Than Black but never finished it ... Black Lagoon is piff though

If you liked Black Lagoon I highly recommend Gungrave. Its mafia series based off the PS2 game. I was surprised @ how good it was.

The Twelve Kingdoms or Samurai Deeper Kyo. Older but still very good.

Last two series I really enjoyed that haven't been mentioned here were Durarara!! (By the creator of Baccano! and similar in story and structure in some respects) and Eden of the East (A somewhat lighter take on the whole "secretive conspiracy" and "amnesiac agent" trope that we've seen so much of these days. Still takes itself fairly seriously though).

At this point though, I just read manga. It goes by quicker and I really don't have a lot of time to sit down and watch anime for 20+ minutes at the time when there's work and grad school to focus on. Also, anime is repetitive and samey in a way I can't get into nowadays.

Apparently Berserk has a film series and the first movie was released earlier this year. Its supposedly a trilogy and the other 2 are due out this year.

its a continuation i believe. it supposed to pick up where the last one left off and add some the arcs from the manga dealing with griffith(sp).

Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom
Crime underworld series centered around assassins. A good 26 ep series with a few plot twists that make it worth watching.
