Anime Brehs....Dubbed or Subbed?

Subbed but if it has good voice actors I dont mind dubbed than I'll watch that anime in subbed and dubbed
The biggest issue with dub is also the translation even with good voice actors can be bad and ur just like

To this very day I have never heard the original Japanese Cowboy Bebop voices and I don't plan to.

That Samurai Champloo, Any Dragonball stuff, YuYu Hakusho and the two FMA series I'll always pick the dubs everything else is subbed.

Slice of Life/Romance/Harem I go sub

I tried watching Cowboy Bebop in it's original audio and it just didn't click with me. Spike sounded too unsure of himself compared to the dubbed version where the swagger was all over the damn spaceship.

If the dub is good, that's my preferred viewing method. It's either read the manga or watch the dub for me. It's hard for me to keep my attention watching subtitled anime.

One Piece, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Dragon Ball Z Kai have great dubs.

This has always been weird to me though, and clearly influenced by nostalgia, because the OG DBZ dub was WOAT tier at first and even when it got better it still falls way short of the criteria that people otherwise use to determine a good dub. But it gets grandfathered in for whatever reason.

Yeah I often swap between the two depending on my mood and how the anime is. If it's a comedy, the subs are coming on no bullshyt. I tried watching Team Pop Epic in dubbed and it just didn't feel right. They edit out most of the profanity and the jawns sounded wild tame compared to the subbed which was complete batshyt.

Dragon Ball actually have pretty good dubbed compared to DBZ which was just frustrating to get into.

Depends.

Subbed for foreign in general. Mostly live action

But DBZ on cartoon network i grew up on was dubbed and that's classic.

Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop I got the MKV w/ both languages & Subtitles and I liked dubbed. Haven't checked em subbed to this day.

Same w/ Akira and Ninja Scroll

Subs because you get nuanced and subtle jokes that dubs won't take the time to explain or the VA don't know how to express them.

Also Funimation is ass with captain gruff voice piccolo Vegeta Zoro. Don't give me that Masoko Nozawa kid voice Goku shyt. She emotes and conveys emotions better than, I AM JUSTICE, I AM THE TERROR THAT QUACKS IN THE NIGHT GOKU!!!

It depends on the show for me. If its Cowboy Bebop, Yu Yu Hakusho, Full Metal Alchemist or Black Lagoon then its dubs all the way. For nearly anything else its subs. Then sometimes it 50/50 like for Death Note, Evangelion and any Dragonball series (the 90's Z dub was terrible though. The dubs for Kai and Super are good).

You are 100% correct. For me it's purely nostalgia when it comes to DBZ, it gets infinite passes lol.

Subbed ALWAYS
its harder cuz you have to read but you're picking up a new language which is always cool
subbed is closer to the original meaning, when its dubbed it suffers from slight translation errors
subbed you get the voice of the original character used which adds to the experience, dubbed you get some offbeat voices sometimes and they dont have the right cadence
