Don't you have to buy preseason tickets to get certain regular season tickets? I'm not saying it was the right thing to do but NFL tickets are expensive as fukk and those people probably think they just blew a bunch of money on a shytty team.
A lot of those fans who booed probably woulda done that anyway. When you're a season ticket holder, many of them have been that for years.

Take a lot to walk away from potential earnings but with your mind right and body ok.

So many players earning fukk all and putting their bodies through shyt.

Strahan himself said he was taking to many pills to get through each game in the end. I love NFL as a fan but it's a fools game too.
My angle is that so many going overboard calling him courageous and brave for walking away. That combined with all the secrecy over this injury and the last one. Most athletes would get criticized or questioned about how much they love the game or are dedicated to playing. I don't think he should be getting killed or criticized for retiring cause that's 100% his right, but I also wouldn't be calling this shyt brave or courageous either. It's much easier to walk away from potential earnings if you've made as much as he has already compared to players like Patrick Willis or the others who retired early not having made near as much money.

True, but this woulda happened just about anywhere, imo. If Stafford retired two weeks before the season began and people realized they spent thousands of dollars to watch David Fales all year, I guarantee Detroit would rain down boos.

Same in Philly if Wentz retired; Mahomes in KC; Wilson in Seattle, etc.

Stories like this really highlight just how deranged and stupid most older white sports fans are. This dude has had a lacerated kidney, multiple concussions, fukked his ankle/calf, and a broken shoulder that will not heal...yet we gotta hear from some dumbass construction worker about how he had to work for 8 hours with a bad back for $12 an hour and therefore Luck's pain doesn't count.
:mjlol:

It's not just race, these dudes just have a disdain for rich athletes man. Notice how they always take the side of ownership in disputes. Maybe it's something about America, where a man at the bottom of the totem pole will blindly support corporate ownership who fukks him over just because he thinks that one day he might become a boss too.
:francis:

Daps and salute to Luck and all real Colts fans. I'm a Lions fan so you know I've been thru something like this before (twice lmao).
Fans hate athletes more than ever. Older fans (these fans are dying off though) can still remember when these athletes would have to pick up a job in the offseason or live in the same neighborhood as you. Now they see players that don't even have to be good to get a contract that can set their family up for life and it kills them inside when they think they work harder than anyone and it gets them nowhere. Back then, sports appeared to be this intimate thing and now it costs an arm and leg to enjoy one game live and fans take that out on the players.

Fans mostly take the side of ownership because they feel the owners' interests and the fans' interests are the same whereas these players come and go and since they won't die for you they don't care about you. As a country we're desensitized to the idea of these athletes or entertainers feeling pain. That's why the internet always asks questions like "For $5 million would you let me push you off the 3rd floor of a building?" and people will legit ponder it like :jbhmm:. We legit think money makes pain more tolerable like it's a painkiller. They look at what Luck made and think "I'd do it for a fraction of that" until it's them peeing blood and having pain for life.

I respect Willis decision massively and he played a more brutal position but yeah Luck made a hell of a lot of money but he still walked away from millions too and not a lot of people would do that still.

Health before wealth always.

It's even sadder when NFL players play on through crazy injuries, concussions etc for the money and glory and end up blowing millions am being broke and for what? Money management is key, health after NFL is the crowning glory

I ain't gone lie when I first heard the news my initial reaction was that he was p*ssy and quitting. But I've come to my senses and realize that it's smart not to be out there risking your health if your head ain't in it. Especially having made all the money he made. It makes perfect sense to walk away and enjoy life. That's why I hate when I see football players trying to ball out. Of all sports that's the last one where I'd be doing crazy shyt with my money. I'd try to save every penny so I can do just what Luck and Willis did so salute to them for that.

How is Willis doing now?

More money players spend, the more risk they take with their health. They need to play and hide all types of injuries and problems just to get the next cheque. They're just a dollar sign to these teams, your family if you have one are the ones that deal with the real effects.

Imagine the shyt they were dealing with that we don't know about, the pain post game, building up to the next game being in agony the whole week and there are plenty of players doing it right now because they need that cheque but in 5-10 years time they will be damaged goods.
