NFL Total Quarterback Rating - National Football League - ESPN

We all know the ESPN fails but the QBR has been one of the few things they've done right. Proven to be a better representation of effective play than Quarterback rating

Here's a list of their Top 10 QB's by Total QBR

1 Alex Smith, SF 29.0 1.7 -6.1 2.9 27.5 181 35.7 20.7 81.9
2 Peyton Manning, DEN 32.4 1.6 -5.9 4.5 32.6 233 44.3 25.0 80.5
3 Matt Ryan, ATL 51.0 6.0 -12.9 0.9 44.9 237 42.7 23.0 78.4
4 Andrew Luck, IND 22.6 11.2 -3.4 5.3 35.7 220 38.9 20.6 77.6

"I'll unignore the Total QBR long enough to point out that I have found justification for ignoring it: Under the Total QBR, Tim Tebow performed better on Sunday than Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers, whose Packers won at the Georgia Dome, completed 26 of 39 passes for 396 yards and two touchdowns. His Total QBR was 82.1.

Tebow, whose Broncos lost at home to the Chargers, completed four of 10 passes for 79 yards and a touchdown. And he ran the ball six times for 38 yards and a touchdown. And his Total QBR was 83.2."

Alex Smith being #1 and Jake Locker being top 10, shows a flaw in the system...unless you wanna make the argument Smith is playing the best football...

So one bad example disproves that it's much more accurate than Regular QB rating? How many times has Qb ranking numbers been deceiving and borderline almost lying when used to compare QB's?

Here's the Top 10 NFL QB's measured by traditional QB rating

1 Alex Smith SF QB 94 137 68.6 27.4 1,087 7.9
2 Matt Ryan ATL QB 136 199 68.3 39.8 1,507 7.6
3 Tom Brady NE QB 124 185 67.0 37.0 1,450 7.8
4 Peyton Manning DEN QB 130 197 66.0 39.4 1,507 7.6
5 Robert Griffin III WAS QB 96 139 69.1 27.8 1,161 8.4
6 Ben Roethlisberger PIT QB 103 157 65.6 39.2 1,111
7 Matt Schaub HOU QB 97 152 63.8 30.4 1,162 7.6
8 Aaron Rodgers GB QB 130 189 68.8 37.8 1,307 6.9
9 Eli Manning NYG QB 128 197 65.0 39.4 1,579 8.0 0
10 Christian Ponder

RG3 number 5 overall? :usure:

Which one looks more accurate?

Alex Smith being #1 and Jake Locker being top 10, shows a flaw in the system...unless you wanna make the argument Smith is playing the best football...
Alex Smith is still number 1 in both :beli:
