Andrew Gillum said on Sunday that he will voluntarily enter a rehabilitation facility after he was found with another man suffering from a suspected meth overdose in a Miami hotel room on Friday. “This has been a wake-up call for me,” the former Democratic nominee for the governor of Florida said in a statement.

“Since my race for governor ended, I fell into a depression that has led to alcohol abuse. I witnessed my father suffer from alcoholism and I know the damaging effects it can have when untreated. I also know that alcoholism is often a symptom of deeper struggles,” Gillum continued.

Gillum was determined to be in an “inebriated state” on Friday after Miami Beach police found three plastic bags “containing suspected crystal meth.”

:manny: His whole career is done and pretty soon his wife will divorce him since she was with him for the power & prestige.

Saving my future R.I.P post right ^^^^ here when he eventually commits that

she was? I don’t know much about their marriage but wow, how embarrassing for her then.

he left out the gay part too. It’s probably the real reason he’s getting out of the public eye. If he was just true to himself in the beginning, years ago and came out as gay it would’ve been different. This is why downlow is harmful... emotionally, physically, mentally. You can only do it for so long before you get caught and then your whole world is in turmoil. I actually feel for him now, like you said I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s contemplating suicide. His career, political and otherwise is over, his marriage is, his family is ashamed of him, his friends are disgusted and his supporters are confused... all in all a terrible L.

At least the brother wasn’t on meth. I wish him all the best in his struggle with alcohol, though. Alcoholism is a fight that not many men have the emotional and mental fortitude to win. :salute: to the breh and his family.
