Nas always came off as a humble dude but he like fucck it now. None of them had a career like this. I mean who do you think is more important to Queens hip hop Nas or LL?

edit post: The day is going to come when Kendrick Lamar passes up Nas too!!!!

I seriously doubt he can release the amount of material that Nas has for one. let alone be relevant for the amount of years Nas put in.

lets be clear, the reason why we rank a Nas is becuz of longevity and his ability to survive different climates of hip hop.

I like Kendrick, but his music wont have nowhere near the relevant staying power of a Nas, Jay Z, or Pac, Rakim (and I hate Pac)

its just not in the cards in Hip Hop no more. Kendrick may have a good run.. I'll be rooting for him

any 1 song off illmatic not named one time for your mind >>>>>> rakims existence

One Time For Your Mind is severely underrated breh.

"Go get your crew, Hobbes, I'm prepared to bomb troops
Ya'll nikkaz was born, I SHOT my way outta mom dukes".:ooh:

"Heine Dark drinker, represent the thinker
My pen rides the paper, it even has blinkers
Think I'll, dim the lights then inhale, it stimulates
Floating like I'm on the North 95 Interstate":leon:

"I shine a light on perpetrators like a cop's car
From day to night, I play the mic and you'll thank God
I wreck shyt so much, the microphone'll need a paint job":leostare:

"My brain is incarcerated
Live at any jam, I couldn't count all the parks I raided
I hold a Mac-11, and attack the Reverand
I contact 11 L's and max in heaven":win:

The flow was much more laid back than the rest on the album, but still real ill and chill and I've always fukked with the beat (Probably my 4th fav. beat on the album). It's criminally underrated and unjustly hated on for some reason.

reminds me of this line

..and that's around the time that your idols become your rivals
You make friends with Mike but gotta A.I. him for your survival

:smh: at people saying it's the weakest song on Illmatic. There aren't any, just dope songs you don't listen to as much as the others

I like 'One Time 4 Ya Mind' easily over 'Halftime' TBH. Also, it being a shorter song, at times of wanting short bursts, I'll even listen to it over 'One Love'.

Agreed on "One Love", it's my least listened to song. Still a dope song

It's true - Nas has had a better run than any of them.

It's not all on him though. Older rappers are unlucky because they were popular when Hip-Hop was too young, and they were rejected in the 90's, which should have been their prime period.

Consider that Nas is only 6 years younger than Rakim (and Jay is only 2 years younger than him). If Rakim had come out in the mid-90's fans would have been much more accepting of his growing older.
