The reason why so many people got behind that devil's advocate gimmick is because he cut an "edgy" promo on religion and net nerds got off on that. The taped vignettes were alright but the gimmick flopped in a live setting. Plus he tried to work his phrase into every promo and it was just status. The Piper pairing was a mercy killing IMO.

But I'm not telling you something you don't already know.
