Can I ask another question? I have some ancestors who were in Louisiana and have claimed "Creole" - but I have no French ancestry. Just British, Irish and Iberian Peninsula.

Could Iberian Peninsula be the root of Creole ancestry my ancestors claimed?

Yes it could. Here is a map of France and Spain.

There was overlap between the French and Spanish.

Then again some people claim to be stuff that they are not all the time. Just like African Americans were always told that they had Indian (Native) blood. So who really knows?

Thanks! I have a few ancestors from Louisiana on my tree and were alive during Antebellum South - it appears they were sold or their enslaver's moved to Alabama.

I am still researching - I hope to find out their story.

Thanks for the help!
