Isn't The Flash dumb by super hero standards? Couldn't anyone just outsmart him?
To the contrary, Barry Allen Flash was a forensic scientist and Wally West Flash while not as fast as pre crisis Barry arguably tapped into the speed force in more creative ways and was no slouch intellectually either.
The problem with writing characters with super speed is that you have to dumb them down to make the book last more than one panel.
We've seen Wally West Flash move so fast that he was able to fight and defeat a White Martian while running around the world and he was running so fast that he FINISHED the fight before a vase which was dropped by a man DURING the fight hit the ground. (Wally actually caught it.)
Why doesn't he run and fight that fast all of the time? Simple, the plot doesn't require him too.....Hence the term plot induced stupidity, where characters forget or neglects to utilize certain powers, skillsets or assets simply to move the plot along.
