A golden eagle attacked a 8-year-old girl during an ethnofestival held at the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan. The girl showed up in the restricted area, which was specially blocked off for demonstration of hunting birds in action. The released golden eagle noticed the girl, rapidly flew in her direction and attacked her. The bird held the girl’s back with claws and pecked back of her head. The injuries were slight. The girl was taken to a hospital, where her injuries were stitched up. Specialists say the bird was not hunting, otherwise injuries would be much more severe and the girl would not have survived. Even adults can’t resist such hunting birds, they said.
