Millions of their voters watch them everyday doing that press briefing, while the president uses a prop piece for a Kabuki theater style press conference, which does nothing but get the media views and performative outrage.
But, I told my Dad this, and he said that's the way things are, the president is too busy to talk to reporters. And I said, too busy to talk to his electorate?
Shiennbaum doesn't want to become a thorn in his side, she just wants to work a la derecho. The right way. That's another role that American politicans in this era trap themselves into being. The resistance leader or whatever.
