I think someone struck a nerve with Play-Doh...seems heated with the triple post
While you are right, I think a lot MORE people will be in for disappointment if/when body fat percentage is used
Unlike on the internet, there aren't a bunch of low-key muscular people walking around, least of all women All that's likely to happen is all the currently obese people will be when their doc says "you're 45% body fat" and there are no more "I just carry a lot of muscle" excuses.
Worse still, all the "do no exercise but don't look overweight" skinny-fats will be in for a rude awakening when they find out they're clinically obese Docs will be ethering people when they bust out the calipers
the cost factor doesn't fly with me. Fast food meals on the regular cost way more than buying the food fresh and cooking a meal yourself. Also junk food is way more expensive at the store than healthy options. It's just flat out laziness to eat like shyt and get no exercise. No ones saying you have to hit the gym every day and have a food scale to weigh the chicken you're about to eat in your kitchen to the ounce, but there's plenty of healthy and affordable options available, and you can literally just walk around the block a few times a week for a lil activity and be perfectly fine.
if youre going to whole foods and whipping up gourmet healthy meals at home sure the cost can rival that of eating fast food on the reg etc. but if youre doing shyt like an eggs/veggie scramble or oatmeal/fruits for breakfast, chicken or tuna salads for lunch or whatever, and some proteins/rice/beans/veggies combo for dinner its very affordable. you have a one time cost for spices/oils/staples to keep in the pantry, and you can make all kinds of varieties of shyt for cheap thats healthy. its just pure laziness to spend more to eat quicker and more unhealthy. does it take a lil extra work to menu plan in advance, make a grocery a list and shop only according to whats on that list (and if youre on a budget, time to hunt around and look at ads for values store to store), and then prepare all the shyt? sure. but once you figure out what youre doing, the time spent will lessen, and you will get a routine going. i started making lunches to bring to work in advance, and not only did i start losing weight because i knew what i was eating and was eating less and better healthy portions, but i saved a gang of money in the processHypothetically yes, but I've found that as I eat more healthily, I'm more likely to care where my food comes from and buy local only, etc. So eating healthier food DOES end up being more expensive. On the other hand, as I've cut out processed foods, I've found myself eating less/getting full faster. Thus, I don't have to buy as MUCH food which offsets the higher prices of the healthy food I'm buying.
This chart says it all.
People are just lazy.
We spend a lot less on food than we did back in the day.
This is why I laugh when Coli nikkas are like "ewwww that bytch avg"
Obesity rates are rising again among American adults, despite national efforts to promote healthy lifestyles.
Rates of obesity had been climbing dramatically since the 1980s but started levelling off in about 2004.
This latest study means they are rising again - to nearly 38% in 2013-14, up from about 32% a decade ago.
The numbers come from a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, using a national survey of about 5,000 people.
National campaigns have been aimed at lowering obesity rates in the US, such as First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" campaign, which offers programming for exercise and healthy eating among youths.
Stacey Snelling, a nutritionist teaching at American University, told the BBC that the rise in obesity rates could be due to the healthy eating campaigns losing their effectiveness.
Over the past 10 years, much of the focus has been on food and nutrition for keeping obesity at bay, but now people were "losing attention" to that message, she said, so perhaps now it was time to focus on exercise.
"Our initial reaction to the obesity epidemic - limited sugary beverages and fried food - that only works to a point," said Ms Snelling.
The consumption of fizzy drinks has fallen in recent years and fast-food chains now offer healthier menus, but these kinds of public health problems are complex, she adds.
Many companies have introduced things like treadmill desks and incentives to exercise with pedometers and staff-wide contests - but not all have taken a stake in employees' health.
"With adults, the corporate environment has not changed as dramatically as schools have," she said.
Obesity prevalence was found to be much higher for adult women than adult men - 38% compared to 34.3%.
Study author Cynthia Ogden told the BBC that this study marked the first time in many years that higher women's obesity rates were statistically significant.
"That's kind of a new finding," said Ms Ogden. "Now, what's happened is prevalence in women has gone above what it was in men again."
Non-Hispanic black and Hispanic adults and youth are experiencing higher rates of obesity than their white counterparts, the study found.
Between black men and women, there is a significant difference for rates of obesity - women's rates soar above men's at 57% compared to 38%.
Socio-economic forces determine the health status of any group of people, said Ms Snelling.

You mean there's people who don't know salad, fruit, veggies and exercise is healthy and loses weight? Not the kids, or the poor. Or the uneducated.
You have to give people options and alternatives to make the choice.
Some people are just complacent or comfortable with what is easy or what they know.
Like why my grandmother still eats pork but doesn't trust raw chicken because of salmonella. Or why my dad thinks Domincan food is a healthy choice even tho it's cooked in lard.
A lot of people are making efforts but don't know enough or have time to fully evaluate. Many are just trying to keep the kids alive and the bills paid.
Well.. I agree its not a myth, but the way they measure it is very misleading. This obesity nonsense is rooted in simple but stupid calculation. Almost everyone has their weight and height recorded (check your driver's license).
Then they use a simple BMI calculation to determine what portion of the society is obese.
Thats it, just height and weight with no concern of muscle mass (which black women have a good amount of). So those women you posted could very easily be obese by BMI standards.
At 6'5 260... According to this chart i'm not only obese... I'm literally off the charts obese
I guess this 6pack is an illusion???
TL;DR - You cannot measure obesity without accurately measuring someone's body fat percentage. Its intellectually laughable to even take this study seriously. That's like measuring someone's IQ by how many classes they took in college
I'm sayin..
This is the point I try to get through to you dudes that you don't seem to grasp for some reason. I realize the system they use to test for obesity isn't perfect, no one system is. But you guys start stating outliers like that's how the average black person looks which obviously is farthest from the truth. I live in Houston, TX I see a lot of women who are truly shaped like stallions and would probably pass as overweight or obese according to these measurements. I see a lot more just fat fukks though.
that discrepancy
Black women
The morbidly obese should be heavily taxed. They have no business having children, either.
