This is very true. In the burbs you have more space and privacy which is cool and all, but in the city, your kids are enabled at a younger age to move around accordingly. Being 12-16 in the burbs is the worst if you don't have a car.

shyt, you really want your kids in overcrowded areas and wandering around late on school nights?

To me, America isnt like most other countries. Geographically speaking, America is the 3rd largest country on earth, and public transportation is lagging behind many 1st world countries. A car is necessary, especially in the winter months where people literally freeze to death waiting for Ill-prepared service for a train or a bus in cities. I known people being rushed to the hospital due to frostbite waiting for the bus. There is a reason why wealthy people who live in cities own cars in America. At some point, people get tired of waiting for public transportation that lets people down time and time again.

I want my kids to enabled and independent as soon as they can. The sooner they learn to take care of themselves, the better. I lived in Lagos, Nigeria which is mad crowded and the like. I knew what areas to go to and what areas to avoid. That knowledge comes from good parenting.

With the US, yes, it's a large country, but there are pockets of the country where large scale public transport is very viable e.g. Northeastern Corridor. What a lot of people forget it that the US actually used to be a leader in public transportation and that a lot of railcar lines were stripped down by the car lobby to make way for highways and the like.

Ill prepared trains are only that way because the demand of the people hasn't reached a critical point and/or the political will isn't there yet.

And rich people owning cars is because they're rich and can afford to own a car in the city. Commuter trains are actually better as it allows people to live further out in the burbs and get into the city in a reasonable time.

Some years back the Japanese inventors that made the maglev train were looking to bring it to the Northeastern corridor of the US. The train could get from DC to NYC in about 1 hr. Politicians killed it dead in the water. That type of train would be unprecedented in the amount of economic value it'd bring.

Let’s be honest here kids in cities have much fun and remembered childhoods.

I’ve never heard a child raised in the burbs brag about how fun their childhood was.

Matter of fact it all depends where in the city you live.

Not everywhere in the city is overcrowded.

And as far as snow goes you aren’t really much safe driving through that either lol.

Most smart people would take the train over driving through snow filled with cars that might crash into you.

Cost of living in NYC and DC would decrease and the cost of living with leverage out across the east coast if politicians were smart and accepted the idea smh.

So the priority for kids is entertainment over safety?

Been posting about this for years.

Suburbanization was just economic segregation, and when access to the suburbs finally opened up, African-Americans and some Latinos started moving out there, the last two decades have been an increased flood of capital into city centers, making the "inner-city" more valuable and opening up a lot of areas to gentrification.

East Cleveland and Cleveland was the best example of this, and the model is already 30 years old.

Yall not getting the point is proof why this conversation is worthless :mjlol: let me break it down for you. I said the culture USING advanced technology. A person refusing to use an automobile (modern tech) so they can live close to work and living in an older and smaller living space is obviously backwards in comparison to A person who is driving an automobile (advanced tech from walking) to get to work because they want to live in a larger, newer house with a yard.

The European model is older and outdated.

So if its pouring raining and you need to buy some shyt, would you like to go to a mall. Or some shyt like this?

It's ok lie to me, dont lie to yourself. Be impressed by backeards euros brehs :scust:
Americans have the highest obesity rates in the world compared to Europe and they have shorter life expectancy than Europe. European cities were built dense & compact with reliable transit systems, while America chose to build far ass sprawled out places like Houston where it's impossible to get by without a car. The European cities where walking and riding bikes is the norm have the healthier lifestyle and lower obesity rates. Whose model is really backwards ?:jbhmm:

Are you really bout to die because you can't buy some random shyt while it's raining? acting like you can't just grab an umbrella or wait till the rain stops? :russ:

You wasting your time. Americans love to argue from a personal standpoint and refuse to see the bigger picture.

They’ll keep ignoring the fact that Europeans have by far higher quality of life standards.

True, but blame America's geography for that. Majority of the population live outside of the northeast. And anyone that can afford a car, can tell you it's useful in weekends where you can go anywhere you want, whenever you eant
