hopefully Dallas folks can keep us updated because this story is getting buried
I wouldn't say quiet per say, the local media aren't receiving a lot of new information because of the "cease" email that was put out by the chief(too many on the inside talking). I think the positive sign I have heard is that a judge has seen enough evidence for there to be a trial. Right now it's about grand jury selection which should be easy work for the DA. Once her evidence is presented then more things will leak out.
Last week the DA along with other so called black leaders to went to a Q&A with the public(mostly black) and I heard it was pretty chaotic and people were saying if she doesn't bring that former officer to trial with a conviction then she should be voted out of office come elections. Again the police union will always be the biggest financial backer of any DA.
From everything I'm hearing from the inside, I feel pretty positive she will get indicted for a multitude of reasons, one being that's the way the wind is blowing and the DPD knows she fukked up and she's about to be on her own. The DA has to get her ducks lined up in a row so I do kinda understand when she says exercise patience. Another reason being DPD knows a civil lawsuit is coming. They have to wash their hands to make it seem they are PRO justice as opposed to being PRO cop.
There aren't a lot who oppose the former officer being on trial. But you have new DA, new chief, and a very diverse police backing, especially in
THE UNION so it does give me some hope for optimism & justice but I won't feel comfortable until I know she's behind bars....
